Verdenskrig på tysk side. I starten af krigen var han ordonnans i Berlin. Senere kom han til Vestfronten.<br /> <br /> Efter krigen arbejdede han som sadelmager i Haderslev. Han flyttede senere til Kolding, hvor han fortsatte som sadelmager.<br /> <br /> Gift 1. gang før 1904 med Metta Kjestina Hansen.
